These two pics are from the trip, first at Soussesvlei where the sand from the dunes we climbed at Sandwhich Harbour (see previous blog) travels south a few hundred km, changes colour and deposits in these incredible dune systems. Words really cant describe this place. We climbed dunes for sunset, then drove back the next day to do the same for sunrise. What a peaceful place, the dunes actually look red, orange, purple, pink and terracotta all in one day.
Guess what we saw when we turned the bend on route to the dunes.... a Giraffe!!!!!!! A most exciting moment. This was after spotting zebra, massive predatory birds, wilderbeast, oryx and springbok just hours before. An incredible place. And , we got rained on! Who needs game parks! Just take a drive around this country and you will see so many animals!
During our road trip we also dropped food at the half way point for the up coming 8 day walk we were about to embark on. The Namib Naufaulk Park was breathtakingly beautiful and made us very keen to start the walk. Stay tuned for this .....
What can I say? I envy you!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the next report.
