Welcome to Jodi and Marty's year of adventure! We've quit our jobs, booked our flights, got ourselves insured, informed and immunised, and we're finally (almost) ready to get on the plane! The ancient tradition of the last-minute packing frenzy will surely be honoured (by Marty at least), but we are on track to fly on the 17th of February.
The rough plan so far: a week or so in Cape Town, then we head north into Namibia. We'll visit the Fish River Canyon (almost as grand as the Grand), and the Namib desert (300-metre sand dunes!), then join my good friend Scott for an 8-day walk in the Naukluft mountains. We'll briefly venture into Botswana to see the Okavango Delta, then aim to reach Victoria Falls by Full Moon to see the lunar rainbow. From there we'll travel through Zambia, into Malawi, where we hope to do a bit of volunteer work. If we can squeeze it in, we'll get a taste of Mozambique before entering Tanzania. From there we'll fly to Morocco, then on to Europe and wherever the road takes us...
